Spyware

Your financial and personal information are stored on your PC. It’s very important that the information be protected against theft or damage. Every time you use your computer to go online you place it and its contents in danger. Even if you think you are acting safe while online you are likely still at risk. You do not have to be downloading games or programs from the internet to still have the risk of becoming infected with malware.

We all know about viruses and the damages they can cause for your PC. You need to also be aware that spyware, adware, Trojans and other malware programs can be as harmful as a virus. Their attacks may be more subtle but the end results still just as devastating. You could be infected with a malware program already and be totally unaware of it.

Not downloading files from the internet does not mean you are completely safe. To be able to remain safe when online you have to stay away from any files that are from unknown sources. Peer-to-Peer programs are the most popular places that people end up finding viruses or other malware programs but internet sites are also known to infect their visitors.

You should always avoid downloading files from unknown sources online to help in avoiding infection. Antivirus software is highly recommended to be installed on your computer and updated regularly. Scanning all files before opening them, even when they come from a trusted and known source will reduce your chance for infection. Updating your antivirus software is the most important part of keeping your computer safe as so many new viruses are being created daily.

Cookies are a common problem for finding malware on your computer. Simply by visiting a web page you might have a cookie stored on your hard drive. The majority of cookies are safe but there are those which are not. The cookies stored on your PC from websites that are suspicious can make serious trouble for your computer.

If you already notice pop ups when logging onto the internet you might already be infected with malware. Cookies will track your internet activities and then packets of information to the site they originated from. This information is sold to companies who will then target you for their advertisement purposes. It is a frustrating problem but the issues that occur later are the real headache.

Once you have become infected with so many malware programs you will notice your PC bogging down and sometimes even freezing up. You may even experience the painful Blue Screen Of Death. Installing an antivirus program now to remove the threats may be too late. The malware has already created entries in your registry where they are embed and have begun to corrupt the computers infrastructure.

Everything about your computer’s hardware, software, and users are stored in your registry so as the malware starts its hostile takeover it will destroy all system information. The end result is a corrupt registry that is nearly impossible to repair manually. A program that will offer you the option to make a backup as well as to restore your PC’s registry will be needed and should have been purchased earlier to avoid this from happening.
